How about be yourself?

Some of you may have read an earlier version of this post. After Kevin’s comment I reconsidered what I wrote here, and the fact that I didn’t separate two points that I tried to make properly. So I’m replacing the original post with a rewritten one.

The first point was that Chase Jarvis is one of the best when it comes using the social media network effectively to build his brand. The newest twist of Trade Secrets is no exception to that.

The second point, which is totally separate from this is, that whatever content you consume, whether it’s Chase’s latest, a good old book, a workshop, the key is that you pick up the concepts and then use them to feed and enable your creative process, and create your own, be yourself.

So there, now these points are properly separated, and without inappropriate generalizations.

I hear what you are saying Jan but I'm not sure your characterization of the card buyers as suckers is entirely fair. It looks to me like a nice stack of concise lighting recipes from one of the top chefs in the business. I've studied every lighting recipe I can get my hands on but the ideas, subjects and creations I spread all of that delicious lighting knowledge on are all mine.

I don't think these are necessarily instructions on how to write the same stories as someone else. To me they are more like sentence diagrams that help me learn to write my own stories in the most effective way. Not a bad tool to invest in.

Kevin - you make a fair point. I've rewritten my post after considering your comments more carefully. Thanks for challenging me.

Jan, you rock my friend - You just elevated my opinion of you big time, and it was already pretty high.
